Surgical lifting
After liposuction, excess skin and sagging tissue may appear because the skin is no longer tightened by the volume of fat. In most cases, the skin can be tightened using a plasma treatment called renuvion. However, in some cases, a surgical procedure is necessary to lift the skin. What exactly is surgical lifting & how is it done?
Surgical lifting involves the removal of fatty tissue, excess skin and sagging tissue. This is done by making a fine incision with a scalpel so that the surgeon can remove the excess tissue. Skillful incision can improve the visibility of scars, but never completely avoid them. The advantage of the surgical procedure is a very pronounced tightening effect.
Pretreatment
Before surgery, the extent of the excess skin is determined and the area of skin to be removed is marked on the inner sides of the affected part of the body. Care is taken here to ensure that on the one hand sufficient skin is removed for effective tightening success, but at the same time too much tension on the scar is avoided.
Surgical lifting
Surgical lifting involves almost complete suction of the excess fatty tissue on the inside of the affected body area.
Next, the remaining excess skin is surgically removed. This procedure largely preserves lymphatic channels and also smaller blood.
Post treatment
After the treatment, you will be fitted with a compression girdle. This must be worn for 6-8 weeks and supports wound healing and the tightening result. Patients are allowed to swim after two weeks, other sports after six weeks at the earliest. Sports that involve vibrations are only allowed after twelve weeks.

FAQ
In order to provide you with as much information as possible, I have listed the most frequently asked questions here. Of course, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have in person!
Depending on whether the surgical tightening is performed as part of liposuction or as a stand-alone procedure, the surgery time is between 90 and 180 minutes.
If the tightening is performed as part of a large-volume liposuction, you can expect to be unable to work for two to three weeks. If the tightening is performed as a separate procedure, the duration of incapacity for work will be one to two weeks.

After a surgical lift you might feel a general soreness which can easily be treated with oral pain medication.
Surgical tightening procedures such as abdominoplasty or upper arm and thigh lifts can treat excess skin very effectively. In case of abdominoplasty, a rectus lift can also be performed intraoperatively to optimally reconfigure the waist (e.g. after pregnancy).
One of the disadvantages is the presence of visible scars. However, these can be made less noticeable by clever incision design.
